PELE LAID TO REST

The body of Pele who is acclaimed as the greatest footballer of all time was laid to rest yesterday as millions of soccer lovers, the world over, mourned the sports icon who won three world cups to himself.

The newly sworn in Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva paid his last respects to Pele yesterday at the stadium where Pele largely played the game of football of a stellar global career at Vila Belmiro.

A funeral mass for Pele was held at the Vila Belmiro stadium just before the golden- wrapped black casket carrying his corpse in a fire truck was taken round  the city of Santos.

Bands played  a Catholic hymn, the Santo’s team official song,mourners sang samba songs that Pele danced to, as his remains were  taken into the cemetry. 

Earlier FIFA President Gianni Infantino mentioned that every country would name a stadium after Pele.
