INCESSANT ATTACKS ON INEC FACILITIES MAY MAR 2023 ELECTION---- OKOYE

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) is gravely concerned about the incessant attacks on its facilities and said it could adversely affect the 2023 should it persist.
INEC expressed worries that if attacks on its facilities persist till January 2023,it would affect the conduct of the general election.
Chairman information and voter education committee Mr Festis OKOYE expressed the concern at a workshop on political violence and election security organised by national defence college in Abuja.
Okoye who also is INEC national commissioner on publicity and voter education,expressed grave concern over cases in states where the attack took place including destruction of ballot boxes and other election materials as well as permanent voters card.
He said that the comission since the 2019 , had recorded 50attacks in 15 states of the federation.
The attack recorded in 2022 were systematic and coordinated to derail INEC from conducting free,fair,credible and transparent election.
He assured Nigerians that INEC would conduct an election driven by technology that would produce a winner, the the people want.
