According to a press release by the Director, Press and Public Relations , the Minister disclosed this today at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, the Delta State Capital, shortly after watching the Gymnastics event between Team FCT, Delta and Ondo at the ongoing sports festival. INCESSANT ATTACKS ON INEC FACILITIES MAY MAR 2023 ELECTION---- OKOYE

  By Kunle Awoniyi The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) is gravely concerned about the incessant attacks on its facilities and said it could adversely affect the 2023 should it persist. INEC expressed worries that if attacks on its facilities persist till January 2023,it would affect the conduct of the general election. Chairman information and voter education committee Mr Festis OKOYE expressed the concern at a workshop on political violence and election security organised by national defence college in Abuja. Okoye who also is INEC national commissioner on publicity and voter education,expressed grave concern over cases in states where the attack took place including destruction of ballot boxes and other election materials as well as permanent voters card. One Killed, Others Injured As Gunmen Attack INEC Office And Police Station In Anambra

  By Our Reporter    Gunmen early hours of Wednesday attacked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The gunmen also attacked the Nnobi Police Station and a residential building within the station, located  in the Council Area. Eyewitness account  that the gun men, while shooting sporadically killed a 16-year-old boy, a relative of a serving policeman in the station, while the another victim, a 15-year-old female, sustained a gunshot injury and has been taken to the hospital where she is receiving treatment. Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said security had been reinforced in the areas, just as the situation is still being monitored.
