The Nigerian National Petroleum Company
Limited has been handed marching orders
by the House of Representatives to ensure sufficient supply of Premium
Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, within seven days.
At the green chambers on Tuesday, the legislators
categorically called on NNPCL to end the simulated scarcity within the next
seven days to ease the suffering of Nigerians and secure the collaboration of
the Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Service to ensure that fuel was
sold at the regulated price and in all retail outlets.
The House further mandated its Committees on
Petroleum Resources (Downstream) and Legislative Compliance to ensure
compliance with the resolution.
The resolution was based on a motion of urgent
public importance moved by a member of the House, Musa Abdullahi, titled
‘Urgent Need for the Government to End the Current Fuel Scarcity.’
