A Pro-Democracy Organization, Democracy for African Programme has called on all stakeholders for the 2023 general elections in the thirty-six states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to as a matter of necessity come together and develop common grounds and work out strategies in line with the peculiarities in their respective states that will ensure the seamless and peaceful conduct of the elections next year.
In a press statement issued in Abuja, the Group's Country Director Dr Benedict Bem Kokoiwen stated that the new initiative will not only bring the stakeholders on the same page but also enable them to collectively identify the likely encumbrances to the elections, share ideas and come to terms with the prevailing issues in their states for the purposes of developing common grounds and strategies that will promote the conduct of peaceful and credible elections.
Kokoiwen opined that this has become necessary in order to address most of the challenges that are likely to stand on the way of the elections in the respective states and the need to provide conducive atmospheres for the conduct of the elections next year.
He noted that since all the stakeholders will work together, the possibilities of rancorous elections in the states and the Federal Capital Territory will be reduced to the barest minimum.
