Following Argentina's 3-0 win over Croatia, Lionel Messi has confirmed that the upcoming final on sunday 18 December will be his last World Cup match.

"I feel very happy, to be able to achieve this, to finish my World Cup journey by playing my last game in a final," Messi told  news men after defeating the croats in the semis yesterday.

"It's many years for the next one and I don't think I'll be able to do it. And to finish like this, it's the best.

"We're just one step away, after fighting hard, and we're going to give everything to try to make it happen this time."

The second of the two semi-finals is to be played tonight with France taking on surprise package Morocco, looking to earn a place to take on Lionel Messi and his Argentina side in the final.
