HAJJ FARE: FG CALLS ON SAUDI FOR 50/50 SHARING FORMULA

The Federal Government of Nigeria is calling for a review of the 50/50 passenger sharing formula with Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), to make it effective and condusive for all parties.

Nigeria's minister of aviation, sen. hadi sirika, canvassed for a review of the 50/50 Hajj passenger sharing formula between saudi arabia owned airlines and other airlines belonging to other participating countries.


Speaking with saudi arabian GACA delegation led by itspresident, Abbdulaziz A. duailej recently, Sen.  Sirika said Hajj and Umrah operations needed to be streamlined under strict regulations  to make airlines stronger as well as to project Nigerias plying that route from finding things difficult. 


On the account of the chairman, National Hajj commission of Nigeria, ( HAHCON), Zikrulla Kunle Hassan, regulated for information on the scope of operations, which theadvance payment guarantee (APG) covers under GACA guidlines.


According to him, the request was made to forstall the reoccurrence of such incident that occurred in 2022 hajj where Azman Air lost eleven days of operation due to delay in its APG being accredited in its IBAN account and NAHCON having to  request that its APG be used to allow Azman airline operate.


He also requested that security identity cards for NAHCON staff posted to the airport for Hajj  operations be made readily available as the commission would begin aviation related activities in preparation for 2023 Hajj in few weeks time.


The GACA president said the visit was to ensure that the preparation process of the 2023 Hajj is hitch free.
