GUNMEN ATTACK INEC OFFICE IN OWERRI

This morning, in owerri, the capital of Imo state, gunmen attacked INEC office. In several states across the country,several offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission have come under attack at a time the country is bracing up for the 2023 general elections.

Our correspondent gathered that parts of the building were damaged as a result of the bomb exploison.

The spokesman, Imo State Police Command, Mike Abbatam confirmed the attack to newsmen.

According to him, " we killed three of the attackers and recovered three AK 47 rifles, pump action guns, two explosives and three of their vehicles.

Among the three perpetrators gunned down was their commander.

Few days, prio to this lastest attack, an office of the electoral umpire was attacked in Orlu Local Government of the state.

" within the past four weeks, hoodlums had lunched  similar attacks on the commission's facilities  in Ebony, Ogun and Ondo State.

This  acts has created fears and 
impressions in the hearts of some Nigerians that some people are trying to scuttle the conduct of 2023 general election.


Report has it that the owerri attack took place arround 3am and it was quailed by security operatives.
