EFCC UNCOVERS WHAT SEEMS TO BE BURIED OLD NAIRA NOTES IN BENUE

By Our Reporters

The operatives of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), have uncovered what seems to be purported bags of buried, old Naira notes from two persons at Wadata, Makurdi, Benue State.

In a video seen by Kukuruku News, eyewitnesses were heard screaming in shock over what seemed to be discovered money stacked in different sacks in bad shape; decayed and useless.

In the said video, residents of Wadata were seen pulling out stacks of what looked like decomposing papers from bags at a store suggesting it was money discovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The owner of the shop, Mr. Isah Suleiman received an invitation for questioning by the Benue State Police Command, and he tendered a license issued to him by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, for waste management. He added that these wasted papers are usually gotten from CBN and processed into mosquito repellents.

Interestingly, the Benue Police Command through the Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene in a statement issued in Makurdi described the video as misinforming.

Part of the statement read, “on December 13, 2022 at about 12 noon information was received at A Police Division Makurdi, that hidden Naira notes were recovered from Police Barracks Wadata.

“Police detectives sent on investigation to the scene recovered wasted papers in a shop close to Wadata Police Barracks, Makurdi.

“The owner of the shop, Mr. Isah Suleiman was invited for questioning and he tendered a licence issued to him by Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, for waste management.

Investigation has been extended to CBN for confirmation. Kukuruku reporters will get to the root of the investigation as truth is constant.
