MY DG'S CONVICTION FOR FRAUD CANNOT JEOPARDIZE CHANCES TO WINNING- PETER OBI

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party,Peter Obi, has re affirmed that the conviction of Doyin Okupe for money laundering will not jeopardize his chances to winning the presidential election.

Doyin Okupe, the director-general of the LP campaign organisation on Monday was committed to two years jail term for breach of the Money Laundering Act.

Okupe was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2019 on a 59-count charge touching down diversion of funds and alleged money laundering  of funds to the tune of N702 million.

Obi's campaign director was said to have received cash from the office of the then National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki .

However,he was able to avoid  jail term as he payed the required N13 million fine.

Whilst interacting with journalists in Akwa Ibom state, Obi maintained that nothwithstanding the recent turn of events, he is unwavering in his ambition.
