MINISTER LAUDS BUHARI'S SUPPORT FOR FCT

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, on behalf of the FCT Administration and residents of the FCT, expressed his appreciation to the President for his support to the FCT Administration over the years.


In press statement by the Chief press  secretary, Anthony Ogunleye in the paid Christmas visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa, leading a delegation of senior civil servants,  political, traditional, religious, security and community leaders on the visit, Bello said that the support of Mr President for the FCT was not surprising because constitutionally, as the Governor General of the Federal Capital Territory, the President was also the head of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.


The visit the Minister also said was significant  because it is the last time the Christmas homage will be paid to President Buhari as his tenure will come to an end over the next 5 months.


President Buhari in his remarks thanked the FCT delegation for the visit and expressed his pleasure at the description of the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello as a hardworking, serious minded and honest individual saying that was why he has remained as FCT Minister for so long.


Also speaking the Chairman, Senate Committee on the  the FCT, Senator Smart Adeyemi said the FCT has enjoyed religious harmony due to the efforts of the President and the FCT Minister.

CBN Clarifies Issues On Old Naira Acceptance After Feb 10

   By Our Reporter The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says after the  February 10 deadline for Naira Swap, Nigerians will only be able to redeem the face value of the Naira at the CBN and not at commercial banks. The Director of Corporate Communications Department at the CBN, Osita Nwanisobi said this on Tuesday while interacting with newsmen. He said this clarification became important following the position of the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, that old N200, N500 and N1,000 will be accepted after the February 10, 2023 fresh deadline. He explained that the old notes would cease to be legal tender after the February 10, 2023, and can no longer be used for any form of transaction afterward. He added that the acceptance will be subject to meeting certain conditions. The duration for the acceptance of the old notes after the expiration of the deadline was, however, not stated.
