ALIA TO THE RESCUE OF BENUE, ALIA ALLIANCE ASSURES
By V.C.Collins
Whilst speaking with
our reporter in Abuja over the weekend at a victory party organized by the Alia
Alliance for Alia’s court victory, the Secretary-General of Alia Alliance World
Wide, Kelvins Dzereamo said the verdict of the federal high court in Abuja
which struck out a suit seeking the nullification of the candidacy of Hyacinth
Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue, was an indication of good
things to come to Benue.
Dzereamo re-emphasized that Rev.Fr Alia has the requisite background to pull Benue out of the woods to the promised land given his training as a public administrator and a priest.
In addition, the convener of the Alia Alliance World Wide group, Kenneth Gyado re-echoed that there was no better time than now for the emergence of Father Alia as Governor of Benue state.
He decried how Benue has been in the backwaters of development, but was hopeful that Alia’s victory at the polls in 2023 will engender massive economic development to turn around the fortunes of the people of Benue like the Father Adasu administration of Benue in 1992.
Gyado called on the Benue electorate to work with like minds for the emancipation of the people.
The APC in Benue had opted to pick its governorship candidate through direct primary.
Alia had polled over 7,000
votes to win the party's ticket on May 27.
He
contested the party’s ticket with Barnabas Gemade, a former national chairman
of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Mike Aondoakaa, a former
attorney-general of the federation ,AGF. Dissatisfied with the outcome,
Aondoakaa filed a suit before the court challenging the primary outcome.
Delivering judgment on Thursday
December 1, 2022, Ahmed Mohammed, the presiding judge, dispensed that though
the suit was a pre-election matter, it was out of time, since it was filed on June
10.
