A FEDERAL JUDGE GETS RE-INSTATEMENT FROM NJC AFTER SIX YEARS

Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia has been reinstated as a judge of the Federal High Court by the The National Judicial Council,NJC ,six years after.


The disclosure was made on Monday in a circular informing other judges of the decision reached by the legal body.

Ajumogobia’s reinstatement is with immediate effect, according to the circular signed by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, .

The circular partly reads: “Your Lordships are by this Circular letter notified that at the Meeting of the National Judicial Council held on the 1st of December, 2022, the Council reinstated the Hon. Justice R. N. Ofili-Ajumogobia as a Judicial Officer.”

“The reinstatement takes instant effect and there shall be consequential posting.”

Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia was arraigned before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC after being accused of money laundering and breach of public trust in November, 2016.

This reinstatement was made possible after the courts quashed and dismissed all the charges against the judge.
